Coffee Talk - Implementing a contact formulation based on Mortar Method and Lagrange Multipliers, by Mohamed Khalil

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016. Time: 15h.

Place: O.C. Zienkiewicz, C-1 building, Campus Nord UPC

This talk is an introduction about general contact mechanics theory and the mortar method. Following that some insights about the implementation in Kratos will be shown, and the robustness limitations of the code is discussed. Finally, the speaker will show some of the examples and tests performed using the implementation.

Mohamed Khalil is a master student in the program of Computation Mechanics at the Technical University in Munich (TUM). He is currently working on his master thesis at CIMNE in implementing a segment-to-segment contact mechanics formulation in Kratos.
