Dr. Carmen Andrade receives the ACHE Award

Premios ACHE- Carmen Andrade

Dr. Carmen Andrade has been awarded the Medal ACHE by the Scientific-Technical Association for Structural Concrete (ACHE, according its acronym in Spanish). Doctor in Industrial Chemistry by the Complutense University of Madrid, this award recognizes the trajectory of Andrade, who started her career at the Eduardo Torroja Institute for Construction Science of The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Dr. Andrade has expressed her appreciation for the prize: “For me it is a great honour feel that there is a bridge between my works and those that are of interest for the structural engineering represented by ACHE”. “It make me feel like one of this scientific community”, continues Dr. Andrade.

Dr. Andrade, expert in the durability of the concrete, is the first woman and not an engineer that has collected this prize. Dr. Andrade has recently begun collaborating with CIMNE. At CIMNE, she will contribute to the experimental part as a complement to numerical methods in her research area of expertise. Her research is part of the project NUMEX, a collaborative platform for the storage, validation and exchange of numerical and experimental results in structural engineering to boost the transfer of results and promote the benefits of joint work.
