Stability of axially moving paper web using a semi-analytical approach, by Tero Tuovinen

ABSTRACT

Mechanics of moving materials has great importance in many industrial and academic problems. In this talk, it will present the study of mathematical modeling of stability of axially moving paper web with several cases using semi-analytical approach. It will consider the production process using isotropic, orthotropic and viscoelastic Kirchhoff plate models. Moreover it will present how to make this analysis useful for the industry by optimization with respect to fracture mechanics. It will apply stochastic uncertainty analysis for crack propagation and it will finalize the study with some concrete recommendations.

SPEAKER CV

PhD Tero Tuovinen is project researcher in the Department of Mathematical Information Technology, University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He received his Ph.D. in Scientific Computing in 2011. He is the (co)-author of over 30 publications in international journals and co-author of book "Mechanics of moving materials" (Springer). His research interests include analyzing the stability of an axially moving materials such as membranes and plates with fluid-structure interaction, fractures, analysis of material uncertainties and visco-elastic properties. His latest interest is to apply hyperspectral data in a mechanical analysis of the materials.
